The Alien Dub Orchestra is a loose collective of Bavarian musicians, including members of The Notwist and G.Rag y los Hermanos Patchekos.
Here they reimagine the fabled Breadminster Songbook of dubman Elijah Minnelli, who writes plaintive, cumbia-infused dub on self-released singles and the critically acclaimed Perpetual Musket.
Minnelli's melancholic melodies gain full-band vitality here with guiro, accordion, melodica, sousaphone, trumpet and percussion fleshing out his compositions from the playful sousaphone of 'Vine & Fig Tree' to 'SLATS'.
The album's second half offers one-take dub reinterpretations by Minnelli and Raimund Wong that expand into hypnotic, psychedelic realms that bridge digital sketch and live performance.
